He graduated in Economics and Commerce, but ever since he wasa child he has had a veritable passion for electronic devices. He wasn’t content just to look at them from the outside. He began by

dismantling and studying the insides of radios, tape recorders and household appliances, trying to understand how they work and repairing them if they were faulty.

Later on, his love for computers, videogames and manual skills brought him into contact with the world of 3D design and laser cutting. His passion for electronics led him to found Fri3nd, a cultural association

dedicated to promoting and disseminating creativity, starting with 3D modelling and printing and moving on to the discovery of drones and virtual reality. The project immediately attracted a very alert and

demanding public: children. This initial and exciting experience led to the creation of “Fri3nd Labs”, creative laboratories aimed at children, who can have fun, learn about the creative use of new technologies and - thanks to manual work - receive the first stimuli to get excited by this world. But there is no age limit to inquisitiveness and the desire to explore new worlds. So Stefano’s project is also aimed at adults. By organising creative meetings, Grimaldi is building a network of enthusiasts. These are informal meetings in unusual locations - parks, literary cafés, museums, historical buildings - where, in the stimulating atmosphere of a creative party, enthusiasts and curious can meet and expound new ideas and projects. A work of sharing and “contamination” that comes from a basic idea: the concept of innovation does not originate from a technologically advanced product, but mainly from the creative thought of human beings.

The story has been written by Valentina D’Urbano, writer.
