It wasn’t a stumble along the way but a real accident that changed Simone’s life. An almost fatal head-on collision with a drunk driver condemned him to a challenging year of immobility. Thus began the second phase of his life: he began to explore the infinite communication possibilities of the internet. Forced to give up his career as an artistic director in animation, he embarked on the world of programming and social media marketing. His creation is called “Showclap” and it’s an e-commerce portal for show business. The site was launched in October 2016 and in just a few months saw the registration of 4.000 artists. I could describe it as a kind of Amazon, but Simone’s team’s ambitious project is not an imitation of the American giant. This is a one of a kind portal. Thanks to a precise system, the user can book an artist with a click, purchasing a show at a determined price. No unexpected plot twists, as the artists are verified by a rigorous process of quality control, which in the space of two weeks carries out in-depth checks, supplies a child-protection certificate, checks criminal records and considers the artist’s recent performances and reviews. But the guarantees don’t end there. Ladies and gentlemen, if the user is not satisfied, the payment is reimbursed. The platform creates a winning formula for both users and artists, who are both covered by insurance and protected in fiscal terms by the issuing of legitimate invoices, an indication of a level of transparency uncommon in the virtual world, as in the real one. Having clocked up more than 3.000 sales, the “Showclap” team is now ready to launch its new challenge: expansion into Europe, and then most of the world.
