The challenge launched by The Young Package is a winning one: to exploit all the potential of paper to make packaging so attractive and appealing that no one would want to throw away the container.  And not just because of a purely aesthetic question. We all know how important packaging is in the design sector, marketing and transport, but perhaps we ignore the fact that it's also a strategic resource as regards the environment and its protection. In fact, paper waste makes up 25% of all domestic varieties and cannot be recycled ad infinitum. The aim of this international competition is precisely that of reducing the amount of waste from packaging, by creating a pack with multiple, almost infinite and indefinite uses. Hence the reason for requesting packaging projects that are imaginative and multifunctional, and so innovative that they won't end up in the bin, but be destined for other uses or become part of the product it contains.

Only for creatives Under30

Entry to the competition is open to students and creatives who are under 30 years old. There are various prizes for the two categories eligible to take part: university students and young designers under 30 will be awarded a first prize of 1,100 Euro, a second prize of 370 Euro and a third of 250 Euro. Instead, for secondary school pupils the first prize is 800 Euro, the second 180 and the third 110 Euro. The jury's assessment criteria include: innovation and creativity, ergonomics, functionality, ease of use, the shape, originality, constructive imagination and, of course, prime quality. Every creative for themselves!
