WEGIL! The wait is over!
The Lazio Region reopens to the public the former GIL, the historic palace of Trastevere that now marries the rationalist forms, in deference to which the architect Moretti intended to realize it, in 1933, and the innovation of our days.
The reopening of the building, the management of which was entrusted to the regional company LAZIOcrea, was made possible thanks to the opportunity offered by "Art Bonus", the tax credit for cash donations in support of culture and show, the cd Art bonusappunto, to which the Lazio Region adheres through the "Art Bonus - Regione Lazio" Institutional Campaign, with the aim of recovering some assets of its Heritage, of which the property is part.
The new name of what is proposed as a cultural hub available to the city is WEGIL, where WE (US) is opposed to the over-exposed IO of our daily life, implicitly proposing the concept of "openness". After the closure, the property - located in the heart of the district Trastevere - finally has its new identity and a coordinated image, with reference to the prevailing theme of culture, inclusion and participation. It is a multi-purpose and creative cultural space, as well as a representative place of cultural, tourist and excellence, thanks to the collaboration with Arsial, food and wine from the Lazio region.
The imposing building of the rationalist era thus becomes a privileged container for exhibitions, shows, events and culture. The building consists of two buildings divided into several floors: the goal of the Lazio Region is to make it a reference point to represent the excellence of the territory, through a fruitful collaboration with Associations, Third Sector, Universities, Research Institutions and companies.
WEGIL: a new space with an ancient heart.
