In the art studio Vetro Artefatto, Mirella Russo and Ivana Urso create stained glass, furniture elements, sandblasted and etched mirrors, lamps and design objects. This is a workshop of applied arts born from the union of two artists fascinated by transparency and luminosity of glass, as well as its huge potential. The technical expertise is combined with creativity and experimentation in order to give life to furnishings, decorative or artistic glass objects made out of quality materials. Those made out of lead are often embellished with grisaille paintings inserts and baked at high temperature with oxides and glazes.
The modern ones are, instead, characterized by abstract decorations. Glass fusing, Tiffany, sandblasting and tempered glass are just some of the techniques used.
Vetro Artefatto is also involved in interior decoration: mirrors, lamps, picture frames, chairs, tables or sculptures, plates and vases, often collaborating with architects and designers, or with artists.
They create the new but also save the "old"; in this regard the workshop is dedicated to restoration and recovery of old windows. And that's not all, the passion and love for the glass art are transformed into glass processing courses - including mosaic - both for beginners and experts.
