Born in 1978, Vanessa Todaro arrived in Rome from Calabria to attend La Sapienza university. When she graduated, she worked for two years in Massimiliano Fuksas's architecture practice, where she met Francesco Lipari, born in Sicily in 1980, who had graduated in Architecture at Roma Tre university. After studying and working for several years in Edinburgh, Vanessa returned to Rome and bumped into Francesco again, who in the meantime had been living in Shanghai for a while. Together they created Ofl studio, which focuses on interior architecture. They managed to win some international competitions, like the one for the construction of a sound barrier for a Hong Kong motorway. The key was the system which they had designed and which consists of a series of rods which, thanks to the movement of the passing cars, produce electricity. A system called riccio, or 'hedgehog', which is self-sustaining, including its solar panels.

Shortly afterwards, they gave birth to Cityvision: a platform for the launch of international architecture competitions. They launched one themselves, asking architects to imagine Rome would be like in 2099. Their aims, as you can tell, are utopian. And the end of this experience, they published the first issue of Cityvision, laying the foundations for it to become a real free press magazine of contemporary architecture: they started looking for sponsors and organized the exhibition of the projects for the future of the city in the Casa dell'Architettura. Over time, Vanessa and Francesco have become publishers, graphic designer, a press office and authors, and the magazine has grown, hosting articles by contemporary architects of international renown. Their dream, says Vanessa, is to be able to move from interior design to the creation of large-scale architecture, and for Cityvision to enter the world of national and international publishing.
