Potlach Theatre
In the municipality of Fara Sabina there is a place where creativity takes various forms. For 40 years, the Potlach Theatre has been at the heart of the cultural life of this area by promoting innovative festivals, artistic performances, and thanks to the activity of the prestigious School of Art and Theatrical Occupations. Its mission is perfectly described by the meaning of the name Potlach, a northwest American Indian word which means “gift-giving”: by offering the community new cultural initiatives every year, the Theatre aims at creating stronger bounds among the people who live on the territory. The Theatre’s activities include festivals, on-the-road performances, stage shows, educational initiatives involving national and international groups and many more. In terms of learning and training, the Theatre hosts an international School of Art And Theatrical Occupations which offers a number of three-month or one-year classes that focus on direction, production, voice techniques as well as many workshops.

The Theatre projects also include internships for young theatre graduates and events like the 16th edition of FLIPT, Festival Laboratorio Interculturale di Pratiche teatrali - the Intercultural Workshop of Performance Studies Festival – (from the 22nd of June to the 3rd of July): a festival where the theatrical traditions of different countries like Denmark, Japan, India, Iran and the United States meet. The project “Angeli sulla Città” (Angels over the City), which consists of a traveling show, aims at creating a closer connection among citizens, artists and urban areas. Through the street performance of dancers and actors this project casts a different light on everyday places. The theme of “The City” is at the heart of another multimedia artistic project, “Città Invisibili” (The Invisible cities), on stage on the 2nd and on the 3rd of July. The project’s goal is to rediscover places, which were once crucial to the city life and now forgotten, by staging in those very spaces artistic performances, shows, events and multimedia art installations.
