The cultural program of the Null Theatre starts from the land and territory. The structure is in the Porcino farm, a peaceful haven in the hilly countryside near Viterbo. Performances, which have often involved the small municipalities of Tuscia, are organised here so as to rediscover nature and the roots of those places. The spaces are tight, and enable the audience to be involved, thereby favouring an intimate relationship between actors and spectators. The theatre was founded by actor, director and author Gianni Abbate and Maria Malleier, sports sciences graduate. In spite of their different origins, they both know the territory where they work, and hold fundamental courses for those who have to get on a stage. Improvisation and dramatisation are taught through imagination and emotional memory, and also by working on the actor’s physicality; indie, the workshops enable actors to acquire theatrical timing by working on their voice and muscular tension. Both adults and young people can participate, and a play is organised at the end of the year to enable participants to put what they have learned into practice. Preparation is always up to par, and different course levels are available.
