Inside Sonic Jesus's psychedelic rock is the deep voice of Tiziano, swathed in the music he writes and winding its way around the lyrics written by Marco which explore their experiences of life; Cisterna, deciduous magnolias, black clothes and baby chickens in the practice room, Marco working in a factory for 12 years, going swimming in the reservoir behind the garden of Ninfa and writing poems and stories, and Tiziano playing the drums for 13 years before moving to the guitar that breathed life into this project. “This is where we live, this is the place where we're able to try and find ourselves in words and music. We think Cisterna created the vacuum we needed to become who we are”.
Before their Neither Virtue Nor Anger LP, which was released this year and presented across Europe on a 33-dates-in-38-days tour, before taking part in the two-volume compilation The Reverb Conspiracy and the split-single with Texas's Black Angels, before their debut EP sold out overnight and got them onto the roster of London's Fuzz Records and before the birth of Sonic Jesus – who Shindig Magazine have called “one of Psych's best-kept secrets” – Tiziano and Marco were just two friends. Their decision to form a group didn't happen overnight but, because life, imagination and their artistic backgrounds flowed through the same expressive waters, it occurred by chance, and the proof of how right the fit between them was can be seen in Sonic Jesus's logo, which had existed for decades before the band itself in a painting by Tiziano's father, the painter Patrizio Veronese.
In addition to Tiziano (singer and multi-instrumentalist) and Marco (another multi-instrumentalist), the band which accompanies them as they tour the world, sharing the stage with famous names and appearing at well-known festivals, includes Simone Russo on drums, Milo Scaglioni on bass and Corrado Maria De Santis on guitar.
