The foundation annually organizes the Falling Walls Conference, a global event attended by some of the most visionary and innovative thinkers from over 75 countries. Every year, on November 9th, 20 of the leading exponents of the research world present their progress in a presentation of 15 minutes each. To participate in the Falling Walls Lab Rome it is necessary to have a three-year, specialist or doctorate degree (obtained respectively in the last 10, 7, 5 years), or be a student or researcher (post-graduate student).

All submitted projects will be evaluated by the jury and the winner will be able to participate in the Falling Walls Lab Final held in Berlin every 8 November. Participants in the Final Falling Lab will receive a pass to attend the Falling Walls Conference, which is always held in Berlin on November 9th. During the conference, 20 of the leading exponents of the world of research and entrepreneurs will present their projects in order to answer the question "What will the next walls fall?".
