Creative revolution at the MAXXI Museum
2017 is going to be a year of revolution and growth for the MAXXI with a rich program of appointments and meetings with great artists, new productions, partnerships, and national and international collaborations. After a very positive 2016 for the museum, part of a great project of reorganization, revitalization and enhancement of the collection that leads to triple the space of the permanent exhibition, with the new and important exhishow The Place To Be and provides for a rethinking of the museum environments, together with their use and functions.
This year 15 new exhibits have been planned and some special art projects, starting from the sixth edition of the Project ALCANTARA-MAXXI, dedicated to Local Icons. Urban Landscapes from North to South: eight cities told by eight international designers, through the versatility of Alcantara. The exhibition Please Come Back. The world as a prison? is topical: through 50 works by 26 artists (including Claire Fontaine, Jenny Holzer, AES + F, Chen Chieh-Jen, Gianfranco Baruchello), starting from the theme of the prison investigates the hyperconnected contemporary society of global control (February 9 -28 May 2017). Zaha Hadid and Italy is a fitting tribute to the MAXXI architect who designed it, who has been one among the most influential and visionary ones of our time. Produced in cooperation with the study and Zaha Hadid Foundation, the exhibition tells her relationship with Italy: from the sea terminal projects of Salerno, the Messner Mountain Museum in Plan de Corones, the City Life in Milan to the MAXXI itself, together with design projects made in collaboration with Italian companies.

This year the JACK Contemporary Arts TV will be launched: it is the first, innovative web TV of contemporary art museums in which MAXXI is the leader and which today already involves 14 institutions in Italy and abroad, the result of new technology partnership with Engineering. There will be a new program of educational workshops MAXXI for KIDS and free guided tours every Saturday. Moreover: lectures on contemporary creativity, meetings with artists and architects, magazine programs on exhibitions; lectures on art, architecture and design.
The museum celebrates the great protagonists of our time with the objective to think on the great issues of our time.
