RGB LIGHT EXPERIENCE ROMA GLOCAL BRIGHTNESS
After the success of the first edition that attracted 60,000 spectators, the high media resonance that accompanied the good outcome and the recognition from UNESCO for the International Year of Light, the event will be repeated in 2017. RGB is an immersive experience: the spectator is immersed in the charm of his city that reverberates with new lights, and casts its spell right before its eyes. Spread around the streets of the fifth municipality, placed along the four kilometres of road from Pigneto to Tor Pignattara, more than 30 light installations and urban light, videomapping and videoart works of art created by national and international artists, produced by Luci e Ombre, with the support of public and private partners, in collaboration with participants of the crowdfunding campaign.
RGB Light Fest is a cascade of light that reveals the most introverted corners of Rome, bringing light to the shyest of places and using works by emerging and successful artists, selected during the call. Each work is site specific both architecturally and conceptually; each work has been specifically designed for the space it will occupy, considering the pre-existing elements with which it will communicate. RGB, on the strength of a partnership with other European festivals of light art, ratifies a new relationship between citizens and urban spaces that are baptised with new beauty through artificial light.
Some of the many initiatives in the programme involve interaction with the user through workshops, laboratories and a night-time run amongst the works. RGB is an urban art movement, a never static, synaesthetic ensemble, of exploration of artificial and natural light phenomena. So that we all acquire our own perception of light.
