A stimulating challenge: attempting to change the approach to the world of cinema, making it more “immediate” both for new artists seeking the attention of cinema producers and for film-goers, giving them the chance to get to know emerging talents of the“seventh art”. In 2016 the Rome-based association Road To Pictures Film founded
“Opere Prime”, a cinema magazine dedicated to new Italian and international film talent. Through interviews, reviews, fun facts and much more, the magazine creates a link between the world of emerging artists and that of major film producers. It is not easy to get oneself noticed in this world, and funding for small-scale productions is lacking. The youngsters behind Road To Pictures Film know the industry well: either they are cinema operators of one kind or another already working in the milieu, or students of cinema. They all have their own skills and peculiarities, but share a common goal: that of giving value to the talent of young artists. With the “Opere Prime” initiative up and running, Road To Pictures Film thought up another way of promoting young talent, and bringing artists and producers closer together: “Pitch in the Day” is Italy’s largest “speed date” event, when writers and artists just starting out get the chance to meet major Italian producers and “pitch” new stories and new ideas.
The idea behind “Pitch in the Day” has proved to be a winner right from the outset: thanks to these meetings, a number of full-length feature films are already in the production stage. With the work it has done, Road To Pictures Film has shown that the world of cinema is still a hotbed of new ideas and talents. All it needs is someone to unearth them.
