The portal of the Italian songs is online
One hundred years of music gathered for the first time in a single collection: from rock to pop, from compositions to dance music, without forgetting the songs of war and liberation, popular music and protest. Presented on the occasion of Sanremo 2018, the new site of MiBACT www.canzoneitaliana.it collects about 200,000 songs in a single catalog, one of the largest sound archives in Europe. Born thanks to the collaboration between the Central Institute for Audio and Audiovisual Assets (former Discoteca di Stato) and the major streaming listening services, from Spotify (main partner) to Google Music, from Apple Music to Tim Music, the portal is divided into four large areas: 1900-1950, 1950-2000, Popular Traditions and Special Contributions and allows you to listen online the musical heritage of over a century of Italian song also proposed through a series of theme playlists made by critics, artists and experts.
A real sound encyclopedia to tell and promote Italy abroad through its musical heritage. It will therefore be possible to listen to thousands of songs coming from the collections of the Central Institute for Sound and Audiovisual Heritage for a 100-year journey through the music of the jazz bands of the '20s, through rock and songwriting. The texts, available in 7 languages (English, French, Spanish, German, Russian, Chinese, Japanese), will be a further valuable tool for the diffusion of Italian culture and music in the world.
