An international company founded by Marco Paciotti and Lorenzo Pasquali, Ondadurto Teatro takes the “Lecoq method” as its starting point and has always sought a balance between different techniques and expressive forms. Physical Theatre, Contemporary Circus, dance
and the spoken word combine with the use of machinery, moving objects, pyrotechnics, water effects, music and video, with the result that Ondadurto Teatro’s particular theatrical language has become its distinctive characteristic. Indeed, the company’s artistic experimentation has given rise to a highly impactful visual language which can engage people of any age, ethnicity and cultural background and thus reach an international audience. Another essential characteristic is the company’s preference for unconventional venues, as they invade public spaces and reinterpret one-off settings. Public spaces, international audiences and a multidisciplinary approach to communication, then, are the key traits of Ondadurto Teatro, which is founded on passion, talent and tenacity.

Their work has received enormous acclaim in Italy and many European countries, but also in Chile, Mexico, South Korea and Russia. At present time, the company has established cooperation and exchange programmes in Thailand, India and Cuba. Within Italy, it organizes two annual festivals, inEURoff and inBORGO, in Rome and Borgo Velino respectively.

Since 2006, the company has been engaged in social projects to bring art and theatre to Rom nomad camps as a tool for inter-cultural exchange. Furthermore, since 2015 Ondadurto Teatro has created an ongoing Artists’ Residency for the development of Urban Theatre.
The company’s aim is to continue in its role as an ambassador for Italian theatre in the world, partly thanks to concrete support from our institutions.
