Nuova Consonanza is a non-profit musical cultural association that aims at spreading the knowledge of contemporary and avant-garde music. Founded in Rome in 1959 thanks to the initiatives of Mario Bertoncini, Mauro Bortolotti, Antonio De Blasio, Franco Evangelisti, Domenico Guaccero, Egisto Macchi and Daniele Paris.

Nuova Consonanza is also connected with the collective of composers and musicians of Nuova Consonanza Improvisation Group.

Festivals, lectures, conferences and concert activities: the group – the great Ennio Morricone is among its members, wants to offer a concerted opportunity to allow young composers to perform, with concerts and musical competitions. After an initial concert series in the Ridotto of the Teatro Eliseo, Nuova Consonanza organized the first festival at the Teatro delle Arti and in 1964 by Franco Evangelisti the New Consonance Improvisation Group had been formed, connected to the Californian New Musi Ensemble.

New Consonance also organizes the International Composition Contest Franco Evangelisti, in collaboration with the Rai Radio 3 network. In 1999 Michele Dall'Ongaro created De Musica, a space addressed to the students of composition of the European Academies and Conservatories.
