Competence center and digital innovation hub: in Lazio a technological hub will be created to support the transition of SMEs towards smart manufacturing. The project is called Cicero (acronym of CPS / Iot Ecosystem of Excellence for Manufacturing Innovation) and will be focused on the systems of Cyber physical systems and the Internet of things.

It is with these tools that Lazio intends to win the challenge of Industry 4.0: through the collaboration between research and companies and the training of skills for the job, we intend to support the digital transformation of SMEs to make them increasingly competitive. Coordinated and promoted by Unindustria, the new regional innovation hub will support companies from September to support them and improve their skills through technological support, training programs, tutoring and funding.

"In the coming weeks the other associations that are completing their internal process will also join", explains the president of Unindustria Filippo Tortoriello because "the logic is to have a single regional infrastructure that can concentrate and maximize all economic resources, by equipping professionals of the highest level who are able to support all the companies in our Region ".

Cicero Hub will work in connection with all national and European hubs to support SMEs and will work with the main universities of the region: "The structure is open - adds Tortoriello - the Hub will also welcome other authoritative actors of the territory interested in the transformation processes With the seven rectors of the universities involved there is a constant dialogue, at the last meeting, which was also attended by the regional councilor for productive activities Gianpaolo Manzella, the availability to put university laboratories at the disposal of individual companies , exploiting the specific skills of each research center, to help those SMEs that do not have the economic skills, but want to take up the challenge of innovation ".

La Sapienza, Tor Vergata, Roma Tre, Luiss, Campus Bio-Medico, Cassino and Unitus of Tuscia: these are the main university centers in Lazio with which collaborations have been started. The challenge is to change business culture in SMEs that do not have the right know-how to understand the impact of the ongoing digital revolution. A real network of digital innovation hubs that are part of the European HMS initiative and will support companies in the implementation of digital transformation projects of their business. Developing new business models, promoting the exchange of best practices and facilitating the creation of an integrated business ecosystem, Start-ups and research centers in Industry 4.0.
