Simona Oppedisano, an actress in shows for children, met Marco Ceccotti at the Teatro Argot's master class for actors and playwrights. Marco is a DAMS graduate who studied theatre in Perugia, and who met Francesco Picciotti from Bari, who introduced him to puppet theatre, when he was at university. The Nano Egidio company was started in 2011, and was completed in 2013 with the addition of Giacomo Cappicci.

Nano Egidio stages shows for both children and adults, all done with puppets, marionettes and actors, without sets and with the puppeteers in full view of the audience. It's pure comedy, made up of gags and sketches, and their trilogy, which still remains to be completed, revolves around a main character who is a garden gnome, or nano. The first show is titled Nano Egidio. Una storia vera (season one). The idea is to structure a show as though it were a television series with episodes and seasons, adopting the style of typical TV genres (crime, medical drama, thriller). The characters, which spring from pop culture - fairy tales, comics and cartoons - are completely decontextualised: there's Barbie (a naked doctor), Batman (an apathetic detective) and Dotto (a doctor). Their second show is titled Batman Blues and continues in the direction of the first: mixing genres while keeping puppetry in the spotlight.

In parallel, they carry out other work. 2012's Il paradosso dell'attore 2000 (2012) is about a talentless actor who wants to live off his acting work so he can pay for the acting classes he needs to become a good actor. The show was staged at the Teatro dell’Orologio and Teatro India during Perdutamente. Since 2014, Egidio Nano has been in the cast of the fourth series of the Social Comedy Club, which brings together Roman comics, with the scripted show Luisa uno sguardo Oltralpe. The group is now ready for its next big step: preparing their first web-novella.

The story has been written by Francesco Longo, writer.
