Creativity, resilience, passion. These are the weapons that Matteo Gentile uses, powerful, sharpened weapons.

They can be seen in his eyes, as well as on his CV. 10 years as a car designer, a degree in Industrial Design at La Sapienza University in Rome, a masters from the Elisava school of design in Barcelona. Then Collaborations and projects around Europe, in Italy, Spain, Great Britain, Austria and Germany.

A complex path, but one that hasn’t reduced his enthusiasm. He began to work when he was still a student, in a company in Barcelona, from where he then moved to SEAT. Sector: Car Design. From that point on, he collected one experience after another in the field of car design, also working as a freelance designer in Great Britain, until he reached Bugatti in 2016.

His passion is born almost as a game. He has always adored cars because of their complexity and wealth of details to be designed. The desire to design the perfect car, corresponding to his desires, came to him when he was only a child, getting home from school. Throughout the windows of his father’s Fiat Uno – a “wheelbarrow” as he calls it, laughing - he admired shiny Jaguars and Mercedes. He imagined creating cars like that, following his fantasy and taste. A dream that became reality, thanks to his determination and hard work.

GTL. Gran Turismo Leggera. Weight is a key element in his project. His isn’t a car for the weak-hearted. It is created to race. A customised Alfa Romeo, for gentlemen at the wheel. A timeless classic reinterpreted with a personal touch.

So personal that it became a person. Matteo Gentile describes it with warmth; he talks about it as if it were a human being. «It is aggressive in its speed and its connection with the land, the way it positions itself on the ground. It has a fierce gaze, it looks you straight in the eyes». Its lines are daring, sensual. Shapes and bodywork are inspired by Sophia Loren’s curves, in a combination of beauty and character, strength and lightness.
