MADXI Contemporary Art Museum
In Latina Scalo MADXI is the museum dedicated to contemporary art founded by Fabio D'Achille It’s less than a year old and it’s the museum dedicated to contemporary art directed by Fabio D'Achille, the former founder of MAD, Museum of Art Widespread born 11 years ago near Latina. Opened in May 2016, the Museum is located in Tor Tre Ponti district and precisely in Via Carrara 12/A (Latina Scalo). The birth of this museum is certainly not a coincidence but the result of an intense research devoted to contemporary art of the territory that the curator-director of the museum is leading in person between Latina and its hinterland for over a decade. The MADXI is hosted at the headquarters of the Consortium for the Industrial Development Rome-Latina, an area of inside 2000 square meters and outside 3000 square meters, where the private reality of a cultural association such as MAD is to meet with the public dimension of the consortium, by creating a cultural offer of wide-ranging that - thanks to the collaboration of gallery owners, museum directors, art critics and historians - involves the construction of events ranging from contemporary art to dance, from theatre to music. The structure is also characterized by being surrounded by greenery, it is equipped with large useful spaces for exhibitions and more intimate rooms. Inside a theater-auditorium can accommodate happenings, concerts and performances. Since it was inaugurated, MADXI has reserved - in the artistic promotion - ample space to the enhancement of the archaeological, historic and natural heritage with summer festivals Mad Procoio and OdisSea Contemporanea; the latter, in particular, has transformed the coast and the hill pontine towns in an open-air museum where it is merged with the expressive power of the "Pontine School".
MADXI is an art box and a reference point for the Pontine tourism territory. The opening night at the weekends (Saturday and Sunday from 19.30 to 22.30), accompanied by an aperitif, it is an additional factor that makes it a Contemporary Museum aimed at promoting and disseminating contemporary art in the area. MADXI also houses the literary circle of Latina ("La terra degli aironi"), that’s a cultural space dedicated to books and coordinated by Pontine writer Rosa Manauzzi.
