SPORT TURNS ON INNOVATION | Rome 2024 embraces digital technology through algorithms and start-ups

Rome wants to play its cards right for the Olympic bid of 2024, so it is looking for start-ups and has called upon young digital natives.

#LabRoma2024 is the initiative of the organizing committee aimed at developing startuppers’ projects and local enterprises in order to modernize the for 2024. The project aims to encourage the development of new technologies and business ventures. The fil rouge is the will to launch a digital revolution in the Capital. The Committee has also requested the collaboration of the universities of La Sapienza, Tor Vergata and Roma Tre.

So far there are six projects to the Games of 2024 starting from Pedius, a service for people with hearing impaired that transforms a written message into a voice message and vice versa, and that would have its usefulness in facilitating Games even during public health emergencies. Another software is Unfraud, useful to prevent and avoid telematic fraud, valuable to manage the purchase and sale of tickets for various sporting events of the Olympiad.

Other projects relate to the inside of the shipyards in case of accidents at work, the promotion of artworks on the Italian territory, the detection of serious danger while the flow of spectators at sporting events and a new system capable of transmitting information flows through the light spots.

Ideas are not lacking when it comes to the Olympic games.
