Roman glass windows
The magic of light combined with the tradition of a city like Rome on glass. On a glass window, to be more precise, which is a real crown jewel among the Capital’s crafts. We have chosen three creative workshops among all.
Let’s start from the Monti district. Here, in via Urbana, there is the workshop "Studio Silice". Founded in 2001 by Anna Preziosi, who still works there, the laboratory is involved in the production of unique glass objects, made and assembled according to traditional craft techniques or through experimental and innovative processes. Anna Preziosi is specialized in making stained glass for doors, windows and decorative elements.
In via Dulceri, in the popular district of Pigneto, we find the workshop "Vetrate d’arte” by Milko Pelliccioni Founded in 1996, this artistic glassware performs the main glass craftsmanship, such as the "fusing" technique brought to Rome by the creative professionals in Pigneto, which enhances the brilliance and the cast made of glazed colours. Since 2007 the laboratory has created an artisan production of "stratified" stained glass, whose particular technical strength allows the creation of more sophisticated furniture solutions, as transparent walkable floors, glass staircases and panelling in one large single plate.
Classical and modern stained glass, sacred or furniture, paintings, lighting panels, lamps, mirrors, mosaics, restoration, objects and paintings in general as well as weaving courses, tiffany and grisaille. Vetrate Artistiche Frassetto is located in the north of Rome, in Via Fosso del Poggio. The workshop, directed by artist Federica Frassetto, provides a reference for anyone who has the desire to own unique and personalized work, performed with complete mastery of ancient glass works and painting techniques.
