the art of the 20th century, "Between form and sign"
The former slaughterhouse in Viterbo turns into a journey back to help us discover the art of the 20th century and its protagonists. A journey through seventy works that talk about Modigliani, Perilli, Fontana and Keith Haring and how their creativity has influenced the last century's art scene with shapes, styles and colours. This is the proposal of the exhibition "1915-2015 BETWEEN FORM AND SIGN. Paintings from two new collections of art" that will be hosted in the former slaughterhouse until next May, 29.
An artistic collage to give new life to the art of the 20th century
As a collage which is made up of many different pieces or an installation where you try to assemble different scenes, each one with its own importance for the final result, the exhibition aims to put together an artistic puzzle that represents the cultural scene of the Italian 20th century. The distinctive style of Modigliani, the Venice depicted by De Chirico, from Baldessarri's Futurism up to Keith Haring, of which a large acrylic is exhibited.
The organization of the exhibition in Viterbo
The works of other big artists, such as Piero Dorazio, Sandro Chia, Mario Schifano, Carlo Carrà and Ottone Rosai are on display in the five sections of the exhibition: Between sign and material, geometries of space, New Iconography, Myth and search for form and last but not least Between nature and landscape. A journey that has taken life from two distinct collections: the one of the Republic of San Marino, born and raised through donations from artists and various purchases, the other from the mutual fund investment collection Scudo Modern Art. The opportunity to understand the overall meaning of a whole century of art and talent.
