"In grande stile" exhibition | The best of Italian comics on show at WEGIL

At WEGIL on February 3rd at 8.00 pm, the exhibition In grande stile, curated by Alberto Corradi and Luca Raffaelli, dedicated the comics of Repubblica XL, with the authors and followed by Djset with Fabio Luzietti and Sweat Drops

The best of Italian comics in the last 20 years will be on show at WEGIL, the cultural hub of Trastevere, opened thanks to the Lazio Region with Artbonus and managed by LAZIOcrea. The exhibition will be a journey through the image from 2005 to 2013 entrusted to two of the leading experts on comics Luca Raffaelli and Alberto Corradi. On XL they have published some of the great protagonists of Italian comics renewal: from Zerocalcare to Davide Toffolo, from Francesca Ghermandi to Tuono Pettinato, from Massimo Giacon to Leo Ortolani and then Diav├╣, AlePOP, Maicol & Mirco, Squaz, Ale Giorgini, Dr. Pira , Ratigher, Pino Creanza, Giuseppe Camuncoli, Alberto Ponticelli, Gianluca Costantini, Onofrio Catacchio, Francesco Cattani, Stefano Zattera, Marco Corona, Hurricane, Nicoz, Elena Rapa, Sergio Ponchione and Alberto Corradi, co-curator of the exhibition.

To show off the Repubblica XL comics means to retrace a very particular project that has given space to the underground comic that, even in its moments of maximum splendor, has never reached high runs. XL with the force of its great diffusion has managed to bring those phenomena to the attention of the general public, such as Zerocalcare, which, unknown, was hosted in the number two of the magazine. Just Zerocalcare will come to represent the phenomenon of an underground comic that becomes mainstream so as to get to the top of the charts up to receive a candidature for the Strega prize. XL was therefore a sui generis project, capable of placing culture, both popular and alternative, at the center of the interest of the young public. The comic was always one of the protagonists of his world with articles, interviews, previews, reviews and, indeed, with a large space dedicated to proposals by historical authors such as Robert Crumb and Daniel Clowes, new or innovative, those that we find precisely in the exhibition "In grand style".

Sunday, February 4 at 18.00, a significant group of authors (Diav├╣, Corona, Corradi, Giacon, Hurricane, Squaz) will take part in a "master class" with live drawing sessions, interacting with the audience from 15.00 to 19.00.
