In 2010 a group of 54 young film professionals has invested about € 1,000 per head to detect an old art-house room, in no time revolutionizing the concept of use of cinema in Rome. Three years after Kino opens its headquarters in Berlin, Kreuzkölln, which immediately becomes a reference film-bistro for cinéphile of the German capital.
In the age of Netflix, AppleTV, YouTube and social networks, Kino has reinterpreted the idea of going to the movies, building from scratch an enjoyment that brings together the permanent festival, the "hype" event, cutting-edge technology and communication in all its forms; creating a community of fans (both "online" and "offline") and an associative space, combining the element of sharing films and conviviality of the gastronomic world. Meetings with writers, directors, actors, musicians, writers, quality film screenings, parties and launch events, discussion evenings, that make a real entertainment linked to the world of cinema. These elements have had great resonance thanks to online access to a lot of content. Kino is a cinema showing independent films, and quality. Italian films are always presented in the hall by the director, while foreign films strictly in original version with subtitles. Cinema Kino Pigneto, in the afternoon, turns into a shared workspace, and makes available its own spaces: 10 workstations, wifi internet connection, printer and scanner.
