THE "CAT" WITH THE BOOTS
Mr. Angelo Gatto, which gave his name to the store, passed away. In 1912 he decided to move from his native Sicily to Rome, where he opened his shop with a great success. His reputation is so strong - and his much appreciated savoir-faire - to earn him the prestigious title of "Royal Shoemaker". Among the most famous people who wore his shoes, Marlon Brando, Aristotle Onassis, Vittorio De Sica, Gregory Peck, Tyrone Power, Pier Paolo Pasolini and Primo Carnera, the boxing champion, who had huge feet.
Back to the present, the property passed to another shoemaker, Silvano Lattanzi, who gets the firm in 2013 from the last heir of Angelo Gatto. The style is classic and pays attention to the quality and choice of leather, designed around the foot and walk. Because leather and suede should continue to live even after years. As you can imagine, it is a long and meticulous work, which must take into consideration the proportions of the foot and any bony prominences. Then, these measures and characteristics are adapted to the chosen model. Especially in menswear, it is just the shoes to have a particularly important role, as it is the detail that makes the difference. Even a little outfit behalf acquires prestige if accompanied by the right footwear and, on the other side, a prestigious outfit loses its elegance if you choose a poor shoe that does not give the right support to the body and walk.
