Per Ananke - Officine di teatro sociale
The wall, at times, is so high that almost no one can see the sky: it’s the wall of Rebibbia prison, maximum security section. High security facilities outside, high insecurity inside, where female inmates are likely to lose their will to pull their fingers out and the pleasure to take care of their body. Thus, the association Per Ananke has decided to bring some kind of creative shock in prison thanks to the theatre. The project aims at giving a voice to the female inmates, their dreams and feelings, as well as to make them meet and compare to each other. Thanks to its therapeutic and educational function, the theatre activity is a push for change and improvement: even in prison, the performance makes the outside meet the inside, the inner and outer world of a person melt.
In this way, the prison becomes a new place where inmates can make, create and elaborate stories through social theatre workshops cured by director Francesca Tricarico. A place where performing means having little time to try, live it and feel it, because of the strict rules and schedules of life in prison. Yet the will and passion of the inmates never fail, because learning how to stand on a stage it is the most entertaining and intense, yet legal way to escape. The female inmates denounce a sort of latent machismo also inside the prison. Often a wide range of activities are organized for men, while the women's sections activities consists of sewing or cooking courses, forgetting any kind of cultural and creative proposals.
