Gutenberg al Colosseo
The Gutenberg art gallery at the Colosseum hosts interesting retrospective art exhibitions as well as personal exhibitions by contemporary artists, readings, presentations of ancient books and contemporary authors; a permanent exhibition of pictorial works, sculptures and graphics, which ranges from antiquity to contemporaries, is also presented.
A specific section of the gallery is dedicated to antique and modern objects, which includes works of watchmaking, micromosaics, silverware, knick-knacks, dolls, heraldry, historical and art medallistic, curiosities and collectible objects of all ages, small-scale furniture, navy furniture, and lamps, lampshades, vases with particular regard to Italian twentieth century design.
In the library you will find a selection of ancient books, manuscripts, autographs from the rare fifteenth-century incunabula to the fifteenth-century - illustrated and not - to seventeenth-century and eighteenth-century publications up to modern works, nineteenth-century and rare and valuable publications of the twentieth century, of various topics. They are present in literary, historical, local, philosophical, religious and scientific and technical works.
The library, consistent with the availability of the works on the market, is specialized in ancient books, ligatures, Dante, Greek classics, Latin and Italian, German, English, history, Romanology, geography, cartography, astronomy, esotericism, magic.
As part of the rare works of the twentieth century, a section dedicated to Cinema has recently been launched, under historiographical, critical and technical profiles. In the bookshop there is also a large section of Art Prints - from the Old Masters to the contemporary - in a vast assortment of etchings, woodcuts, linocuts, lithographs.
