In 2016, Gaia, Michael and Denis founded their communication agency. Only a little later, another three members joined them, all very young and highly specialised, and two freelancers. “We grew up very fast,” they tell us, proud of their creation - the HUD Agency. Having graduated in Economics and Project Management, Gaia then did a Masters in Design and another in Web Marketing. Michael has a degree in Graphic Design from the IED (European Institute of Design), and now is specialising in digital: web design, user interface and user experience design. Denis is a web and app developer. Sara is a copywriter. Matteo is a photographer. Genny is a fashion designer and illustrator. Mirko is a developer and Giuseppe is a video maker. “We’re a team,” they say almost in unison. They introduce themselves as a group of friends, as well as professionals. They tell me about their business trips, their shared passions - “we share beliefs and are closely united”. “The HUD team” looks for empathy with clients, above all else, “at the end of the day, we are more than simple suppliers, but true partners.” They don’t sell websites or apps, but concepts. They create everything that the client doesn’t even know they need. For example, with 3D virtual reality, the HUD has been able to transport visitors of a business fair to an abroad factory, thanks to the immersive 360° video. HUD is different from other young startups in that they have no problem finding work for themselves, “it’s not easy attracting professionals to Latina, but we are not moving from here”. “And the recession?” I ask. They reply with, “It’s been our best bit of luck”, because businesses that come to us have already spent money on low-level products and arrive at the HUD with the hope - that’s never in vain - of getting immediate returns.
