The most significant traits of the young designer Gabriele Rosa’s personality are his determination and his healthy ambition, that have taken him from the academic classrooms of the design school to several collaborations and work placements with the most important, renowned companies in the sector. He started his experience at Poltrona Frau, where he came into contact with a high-end furniture world characterised by extreme product care, starting with the materials, and he went on till his experience with Zanotta, «a company that I studied about in books at university».
Today, Gabriele Rosa has a studio of his own in Rome, in Via Cesena 39: in 2008 he began to use his precious free time by designing his own products and offering them to his clients who responded enthusiastically to his creativity.
«This allowed me to leave my work as an employee and not take on temporary work contracts, and to open up a small studio of my own, a laboratory» where other creative people in the sector work with him. It was the worst time to open a studio, he says, as he had to go through the 2008 recession, «but we are still here».
This path of healthy recklessness and desire lead to the creation of “Alya”, a suspended light designed by Gabriele Rosa and made by Nemo Lighting, born from two principles: the aesthetics of lightness and new LED technology. There is little material used (three luminous lines – rather than simple light points – with a dynamic form of curvature, in aluminium); the high luminosity of this creation and the wider scope that it provides to the spaces it is positioned in are its strengths. Alya is ideal for contract environments such as hotels and restaurants, or above tables, in dining rooms and lounges. Gabriele Rosa has created a product that can amaze and characterise every room.
