Fondazione Cusani Onlus
Young artists grow. And school is obviously the best place to train young musicians. Dario Cusani, who has a great passion for music, strongly believes that classical music in Italy should not be an elitist privilege: instead it should joyfully involve everyone. That is why he decided to teach music to children. The aim is to create a specialized music school inspired by the Russian model, which now trains the greatest performers and the best orchestras in the world.
At the moment the foundation is working with public nurseries, primary and secondary schools creating small neighborhood orchestras with kids aged 3 to 13 years. This represents an opportunity to share knowledge and growth together. At this age kids are more receptive to learning and it is the best time to study music. Music can lead to earn more sensibility, respect for oneself and for others, more capability to concentrate and to work with other kids. Music is a universal language, and its education involves painting, drawing and many other creative languages, breaking down any barriers not only among children but also among adults. Thanks to the initiative La Musica va a scuola, the Orchestra Fratelli d'Italia and the Orchestra Sociale Italiana were created as well as the Orchestra and Coro di Quartiere projects. Among the pupils who learn music during school hours, those with a special interest and talent were selected to form the Orchestra and Coro di Quartiere: in this way children from different school play together.
