Drawing has always been an essential part of life for him. Since he was a child, Federico chose paper and ink to express himself. He draws every day. His approach is self-taught, involving experimentation and research, and an almost obsessive attention to detail. That is how “Untitled - Continued” came to be. The project’s very name incorporates a sort of elusiveness and continuous evolution. That’s because Federico’s drawings express just that: a universe of intertwined marks, closely connected to each other, concepts that elude a superficial glance and force those who look to stop, to search among the symbols, to connect the drawings, to be amazed
by the references and tiny clues hidden in plain sight among the black lines traced by his pen.
A stimulating treasure hunt that takes time. In a world at the pace we are accustomed to today, where our needs must be satisfied as soon as possible and everything must be found immediately and easily, where meaning must be glaringly obvious at first glance, Federico has reversed the trend, and has done so with depth and lightness. He takes his time, and demands time to those who look at his works. Only by stopping, only by looking carefully, we can discover the minuscule details, the profusion of cultural references to movies, books and TV series, the fears and anxieties, and the tale of everyday life. With such varied elements, anyone can recognize themselves in his illustrations, but only if they take the time to search. Because, just as he says, “if we all stopped for a moment, we could discover many beautiful things”.
