The “D!pendenza Hand Made Design” logo is a prickly pear, a plant that continuously regenerates itself. Similar to dreams, that produce creative insights from what appears to be confusion. A dream is what brought “Txt” to life: a series of lamps that light up luminous messages. Dario, a young architect, saw a message lit up when he was dreaming. Everything became clear, and became tangible - even the idea of creating furnishing accessories made up of words. Sparks of genius take shape thanks to his passion for the handmade, which he inherited in his carpenter grandfather’s workshop - the first place that welcomed his desire to put life back into scrap. Pallets are considered rubbish on construction yards, whereas their potential as a living material is clear in his eyes. It becomes a lamp frame - the shell is adapted to the requested dimensions and it continues to live when it is treated with natural materials. It murmurs words of Plexiglas, custom-made, revived by light bulbs. Dario makes them in his warehouse in Pietralata, surrounded by three hectares of a Rome where virtuous, natural areas are nestled. It is the base of operations of RE-BA, a broader interior and exterior lighting project that breaks down pallets and readapts them, according to furniture requirements. There is another treasure inside these hectares - the old trees that also become lamp bases. Lamps made from trunk sections and harmonised flexible stainless steel, they bring together opposing origins, those of tradition and innovation. Martina - sister and business partner - brings her marketing and communication skills to the enterprise and takes advantage of the dynamism of social media to broadcast product images. It’s also thanks to her that the lamps shimmer: she helps Dario transform the brilliant idea of turning wood into words. A creative family relationship that is making dreams a reality.
