From Phoenicians to Mazen Rankoussi
The small studio “Perla D’oriente” is situated in one of the most ancient and characteristic streets of the historical centre of Rome. The owner Mazen is heir to a long-standing tradition of excellence concerning master glass and goldworking.
The artist, in his several trips in India, Turkey, Egypt and Europe, has learnt and experimented may ancient and modern techniques of glass making. He creates jewels by using a exclusively refined glass coming from several nations.
It’s in Via Sora that we find Mazen Rankoussi, a professional artisan that gives brilliance to amorphous raw material, so he creates artworks such as: glasses, chandeliers, bowls, vases and unique pieces such as earrings, bracelets, necklaces, pendants and charms.
By strolling in the studio we can see the artisan working by using several techniques of glass making, until the result of personalized artworks. In the atelier you can also attend classes with a short historical introduction on glass discovery and manufacturing since Phoenicians: you’ll have also the opportunity to make use of tools and work bench.
