MOMA: ONLINE PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE | A FREE SEMINAR FOR UNDERSTANDING THE MEANING OF IMAGES

What is the difference between seeing and understanding a photograph, the approache, technologies and perceptions behind a photoshot? These are the premises of "Seeing Through Photographs", a free online photography course launched by MoMA, the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

MoMA to your home to learn to understand the meaning of a photograph
One of the most important centers of world modern culture gets directly to your home. If you do not want or cannot take a flight to reach the Big Apple, just turn on your computer and enjoy the opportunity to attend the online course organized by MoMA, wherever you are. The seminar, led by Sarah Meister, curator of the photography department of the Museum, aims at tracing and investigating 180 years of history of photography, such an important form of communication between peoples and cultures, an immediate way of looking at the world, for telling stories or documenting events.

MOMA and its photographic collection
In a time when people can take pictures at any time with a smartphone or a tablet, the course aims to explain what lays beyond a simple click. This is exactly the difference between seeing and understanding a photograph, 'educating' the right view of the image. "Seeing Through Photographs" shows people the online collection of MoMA, trying to highlight the different perspectives of the 180 year-old world of photography.

MOMA photography course: how it is organized
If you are willing to go beyond the simple click and critically interpret the images our increasingly visual society every day offers, just have a full immersion in one of the six sessions proposed by this made in the USA project.
