The Prize CassinoOFF was born in 2014 as part of Festival del Teatro civile which annually rewards and chooses one or more companies to be included in the Festival's program. The Festival del Teatro Civile was born in 2012, organized by CittàCultura association with the aim of offering not only theater, but also cinemas, books, appointments for children and workshops placed all over the country and throughout the year. It is an increasingly shared and enlarged project that involves the entire city of Cassino and many municipalities in the province through places, associations in the area, well-known artists but also young companies, writers and musicians. It’s an ambitious and wide-ranging project broadcast live on the daily newspaper L’Unità, media partner of the event and financed by Regione Lazio, Provincia di Frosinone and Comune di Cassino. Among the partners there are the University of Cassino, ATCL and many associations in the province of Frosinone.

The Prize "CassinoOff 2017" went to the show "Mio Eroe" by Giuliana Musso. Giuliana Musso was born in 1970 in Vicenza and adopted by Udine. She’s an actress, researcher, author, winner of Premio della Critica 2005. Her theater is on the border with investigative reports, between inquiry and poetry, denunciation and comedy. The jury of the CassinoOFF Festivalchaired by Francesca De Sanctis (L’Unità) and composed of Simone Nebbia (Teatro e Critica), Graziano Graziani (Rai Radio 3), Tommaso Chimenti (Il Fatto Quotidiano), Paola Polidoro (Il Messaggero) and Elisabetta Magnani (Associazione CittàCultura), has rewarded Giuliana Musso, who is one of the most beloved members of the Italian theater dealing with narrative and inquiry.

The jury’s motivation  with which she has been awarded with the prestigious prize considers "Mio Eroe", a painful and yet poetic confession becoming ethical and political denunciation of three women, mothers of soldiers who died during the war in Afghanistan. "Her way of doing theater, born from the investigation of reality, confirms the consistency, consistency and great professionalism of an artist - continues the motivation - who has never stopped watching the world, by suggesting, thanks to the proof that bring to the stage and without judgments, to look at people in the eyes and listen to their stories, because theater is also a sincere and authentic sharing of thought.
