Camerata Nuova bets on wood
Take a small village on the border between Lazio and Abruzzo, inhabited by 480 inhabitants, a phenomenon that is becoming more and more rare today; Add the distance from the big metropolises ostracized by the lack of adequate public transport. Described in this way, it is easy to think of an isolated and lacking place of work opportunities for those who live there.
This is not the case, however, for Camerata Nuova, a small reality in an hour's drive from Rome, where last December 16th the park carpentry (Falegnameria del Parco) was inaugurated: it can become an important resource for its territory. It is an element of the wider project of the "Forest and Mountain Training Center" which aims at re-qualifying this public structure, thus creating paths of high social interest.
We are in the area of the Regional Nature Park of the Simbruini Mountains, a territory where the mountain is the indisputable protagonist. It is for this reason that a reality has been opened which aims to exploit and value one of the elements that most enrich the territory: wood. It is a precious element to relaunch the economy of the place, creating new opportunities for work for young people who are born here and want to stay.
It will be the new carpentry - complete with all the machineries needed for wood processing - the place where the courses will take place to become carpenter or wood technologist. An opportunity to learn how to create and achieve projects and objects through a natural material, expression of the creativity and tradition of a place.
