ANDREA DE ANGELIS
Andrea De Angelis’ creative energy ranges from writing to composingmusic, from illustration to digital graphics. In autumn 2017, Andreapresented his novel - “Gli spiriti selvaggi. La leggenda dei cavalieri di Asha”, published by Dark Zone - at the Romics and Lucca Comics events. This is the first volume of a fantasy trilogy populated by creatures born of the evolution of various animal species. The protagonists, dragon hunters who live at the margins of society, chance upon an ancient legend. “The creatures and settings are original”, explains Andrea. “In the book I describe the characters only after I’ve drawn them, with precise attention to anatomical detail”. Although the atmosphere is medieval, metaphors that refer to current issues run through the story: “The stones of Kolodon in the book, which enclose the forces of nature, symbolise energy sources that can be used appropriately or in a destructive way”. “Gli spiriti selvaggi” is not only a work of literature but a project that involves the use of different technologies. “The book was preceded by a portfolio of illustrations and music tracks; the former drawn with digital techniques and traditional painting, the latter done using sampling software. When I realised the music and the drawings evoked fantasy scenarios, I decided to translate them into text”. Then came the addition of book trailers, the board game, soon to be released, the video game - under development - and a dragon flight simulator created using graphics modelling and the game development suite Unreal Engine 4. The saga of “Spiriti selvaggi” will continue in 2018 with the second volume, and conclude with the final episode in 2019.
