It is a rare occurrence that life kneels before us and asks us to become something. Usually, it is more a case of working hard to soften the corners of our passions until we understand where we want to be and what we really want to be.

After her degree in Fashion and Costume Science at La Sapienza University in Rome, Alessia Forcina dedicated 10 years to specialising in production. «My work took me from Rome to New York, ranging from fashion to music, between the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto and the Fondazione Alda Fendi for theatrical production, dealing with many different artists and large events like Live Nation Italia and moving further and further away – at least so it seemed to me – from Latina, the city I grew up in».

Alessia told me this to explain how many different paths she had trodden to understand that the place where she wanted to be was where she started from.

It must be said that although life doesn’t like showing us shortcuts, reality always provides clues and if we take note, it may happen that while we are moving around perfecting our talents, we come across the link that joins together all our experiences. For Alessia, this was wedding planning: a way to take everything she had learned and bring it home, to her city. The idea with which she won the Regione Lazio call «Support and development for companies in the cultural and creative activities sector» was an online platform that brings together the concept of weddings and art, allowing the bride and groom to communicate with local businesses that offer photography, music and artisan services with creativity and while adding value to the territory.

When we spoke, Alessia was organising her own wedding, a kind of test for what will come, she said. Life is like that: it doesn’t kneel down, but when the connecting ring is ready, it takes it and puts in on our finger.

The story has been written by Elisa Casseri, writer.
